Veterinary Internship at The Donkey Sanctuary
12-month internship based at the sanctuary’s brand new, purpose-built hospital at Brookfield Farm, Honiton, Devon.
Initial 6-month hospital-based role with daily duties including anaesthesia, diagnostic imaging and in-patient care. To then transition into an ambulatory 6-month role looking after the sanctuary’s 2,700 donkeys across Devon and Dorset.
To work with farriers, dental technicians and pathologists, gaining a well-rounded knowledge of donkey care and treatment.
Opportunity to produce a research project with the help of the Sanctuary’s experienced research team with the vision of being presented at BEVA Congress.
Opportunity to travel and assist in the sanctuary’s overseas work.
External training at partner equine vet practices to enhance skills in a more horse-based case-load.
Working with colleagues at the forefront of donkey welfare and medicine.
To work 5 days a week Mon-Fri from 8am to 4:30pm with on call rota gradually transitioned into once the intern is confident and competent. Competitive salary with use of car included.
This internship will produce a vet that is competent in all areas of ambulatory equine practice whilst allowing them to have a superior knowledge and understanding of the different needs of donkeys.
